Game Recap In a SMAC West conference battle, The Maroon Giants were able to pull out a victory over the Mustangs 49-44. The Maroon Giants were led in scoring by Jamaal Conger, who finished with a game high 30 points. " Jamaal is a tremendous player. He did a great job of reading the defense, attacking and making difficult shots tonight", said Mustang coach Darryl Blasingame. Portage Central was able to overcome a fourth quarter deficit to take a lead late in the fourth, but was unable to finish the game. "we made some costly mistakes down the stretch that we can not continue to make", said Blasingame. The Mustangs are now 8-4 (5-3 in conference) and head to Niles on Tuesday.
