Belgian star center Ann Wauters has put an end to her National Team career, she confirmed to Nieuwsblad.

Wauters made her Belgian National Team debut almost 16 years ago as a 16 year old in European Championship qualification game against England in which she scored 12 points and pulled down 8 rebounds.

Her last game with the NT was in EuroBasket Women 2011 qualifiers in August of 2010 when she had 27 points and 16 rebounds in a loss to Croatia.

Speaking of her biggest regrets, Wauters talked about not going to the Olympic games. In EuroBasket Women 2007 Belgium were close, but lost in quarterfinals to Spain and in the semifinals for 5-8 place to Czech Republic, finishing seventh, outside of the top five.

Earlier this year it was announced that Wauters will forfeit her last year of the contract with the WNBA’s Seattle Storm to stay home with her family.

Belgian NT this summer will participate in EuroBasket Women 2015 qualifiers where they in Finland will play against the hosts and Poland for the right to move on to semifinals.
