Seattle Storm has announced the signings of forward Alysha Clark and centers Chay Shegog and Cierra Bravard to training camp contracts.
Clark, a 5-10 forward, was invited to Storm training camp last season and earned a spot on the 2012 final roster. She played in 23 games and averaged 3.4 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in her rookie campaign. Clark was a second-round pick (17th overall) of the San Antonio Silver Stars in 2010 and participated in training camp with the Silver Stars in 2010 and ’11. As a senior at Middle Tennessee State, Clark led the NCAA in scoring when she averaged 27.5 points per game. She played for Ramat Hasharon in the Israeli D-I this winter.
“It is great to have Alysha back working to make our team,” Agler said. “Complementing Alysha’s return, we are excited to have two quality young post players in training camp, with Chay and Cierra joining us.”
Shegog, a 6-5 center from North Carolina, played three games with the Connecticut Sun as a rookie in 2012 and had five points and five rebounds in a preseason game against the New York Liberty. She was drafted in the second round of the 2012 Draft, with the 21st pick overall. Shegog led the Tar Heels and ranked third in the ACC in scoring as a senior.
A 6-4 forward, Bravard was in training camp with San Antonio following her 2012 graduation from Florida State. She finished her collegiate career as the only player in program history to rank among the top 10 on the career record lists for scoring, rebounding, blocks and games played. She played on a U.S. all-star team in the Four National Tournament in China last summer.
