Shavlik Randolph will be a member of the Boston Celtics for the rest of the season, and potentially beyond. After his second 10-day contract expired last night, the team as expected, signed the big man to a contract for a remainder of the season. Here’s the official press release from the team:
The Boston Celtics announced today that they have signed forward Shavlik Randolph to a multi-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Randolph, a 6’10” forward, has appeared in three games for the Celtics this season averaging 3.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 12.0 minutes per game. He posted highs of six points, eight rebounds and two steals against Charlotte on March 16.
CH’s Take: Like D.J. White and Terrence Williams’ deals, the team likely holds a team option on Randolph for next season at the league minimum, giving them a low cost option at minimal risk to their cap for next season. A savvy move for a team that has well over 70 million dollars committed in salaries next season already. We’ll have more on all of the C’s recent signings and what they mean for the future in the coming days, but for now the C’s roster is set for the stretch run.
