After seven straight losses, the John Jay boys basketball team got its first win of the new year by holding off Brewster, 52-46, on Wednesday night at home.
The Indians (5-10) were led by Jack Weiller with 14 points, Nick Kiger with 13 points and Jack Paccione with nine points.
John Jay trailed at halftime, 27-24, but outscored the Bears 14-4 in the third quarter to take a 38-31 lead into the fourth quarter.
Matt Bernstein and Joe Kells each scored seven points.
Will Jahn and Matt Stroud added one point each.
Weiller drained four three-pointers for the Indians.
