CLASS AA

Player of the Week:
Bridget Murphy, Bethlehem: The senior point guard scored a game-high 21 points (9-for-13 shooting) to go along with a stellar defensive performance guarding Shaker’s Madison Rowland (4 of 19, 11 points) to lead the Eagles to a 53-40 win over the Blue Bison.

Game of the Week: Bethlehem 53, Shaker 40: In a showdown of Suburban Council powers with 12-0 records entering Friday’s matchup, the Eagles utilized a 20-3 run that spanned from the third quarter into the fourth to take command.

Team of the Week: Bethlehem: The Eagles added Shaker to its list of victims — a group that also includes Colonie, Shenendehowa, Averill Park and Troy.

Upcoming Game to Watch: Bethlehem at Averill Park,Tuesday: Both state-ranked squads are looking to win sectional titles in the Class AA and A tournaments, respectively. Bethlehem beat Averill Park 71-48 Dec. 7, but the Warriors are riding a seven-game winning streak.


CLASS A

Player of the Week: Kelly Donnelly, Averill Park: The junior guard scored a game-high 18 points Friday to lead the Warriors past Shenendehowa 40-36.

Game of the Week: Averill Park 40, Shenendehowa 36: The Warriors captured their seventh straight victory Friday.

Team of the Week: Averill Park: Rallied in the fourth quarter to outscore Shenendehowa 11-6 to secure a 40-36 win.

Upcoming Game to Watch: Glens Falls at South Glens Falls, Tuesday: The Foothills Council title race is shaping up a three-team fight between Queensbury, Glens Falls and South Glens Falls.


CLASS B

Player of the Week: Ailayia Demand, Watervliet: Saturday at the Colonial Council’s Coaches vs. Cancer event at Voorheesville, Demand scored 19 points to surpass Crystal Carroll as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,255 points as the Cannoneers defeated Ravena 48-42.

Game of the Week: Tamarac 50, Hoosic Valley 46: The Bengals dropped the first meeting 53-52 and prevailed in the rematch in front of a packed house at Tamarac.

Team of the Week: Tamarac: Led by the efforts of Jenna Erickson, Briana Matazinsky and Adiya Henderson, the Bengals won their ninth straight game and moved into a tie atop the Wasaren League standings with Hoosic Valley at 9-1.

Upcoming Game to Watch: Hoosick Falls at Tamarac, Friday: Hoosick Falls is in third place in the Wasaren League standings. The Bengals beat the Panthers 65-51 Jan. 4.


CLASS C

Player of the Week: Liz Harvey, Berne-Knox-Westerlo: The senior guard capped a three-game week Saturday with 26 points in a 55-53 vicvtory over Greenville Saturday at the Patroon Conference Coaches vs. Cancer event at The College of Saint Rose. She scored 69 points in three victories.

Game of the Week: Berne-Knox-Westerlo 55, Greenville 53: Liz Harvey, Mary Salo and Makayla McCormick combined to score 51 points as the Bulldogs edged the Spartans.

Team of the Week: Mekeel Christian Academy: The Bulldogs enjoyed a big week with wins against Mekeel Christian Academy (56-41), Middleburgh (74-57) and Greenville (55-53).

Upcoming Game to Watch: Berne-Knox-Westerlo at Duanesburg, Wednesday: The Bulldogs beat Duanesburg 48-35 Jan. 9 and also knocked off the Eagles twice during the 2011-12 regular-season, but Duanesburg did beat B-K-W in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament final.


CLASS D

Player of the Week: Taylor Boucher, Fort Edward: The senior forward scored a game-high 18 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, as the Flying Forts posted a 41-29 victory over Argyle.

Game of the Week: Fort Edward 41, Argyle 29: A second victory over the Scots moved the Flying Forts to 12-0.

Team of the Week: Fort Edward: The Flying Forts, ranked No. 3 in the state, beat Argyle for the second time this season Friday night.

Upcoming Game to Watch: Fort Ann at Argyle, Friday: The Cardinals have only one loss (Fort Edward) and the Scots are looking for a big win before sectionals.
