On January 4, the Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team won its third game of the season against Weston. With the win, they improved to 3-3 after three close losses early in the season to Tyngsboro, Holy Name and Somerville. Their first win of the season came against Waltham, in which AB won by 15 points. During their Winter Break Tournament, the girls lost by only a few points in their first tournament game against Somerville. The Colonials needed overtime in their second game to garner an impressive win against Needham. In their second home game, against Weston, AB came out strong on defense and limited Weston star Salea Serrette to just six points. Junior Becca Shamah led the team in scoring (19 points), followed by sophomore Lindsey Sweet (8 points). The young team looks to build on their newfound momentum as they go into their next two games against Tyngsboro and Westford. The team’s record as of January 30 is 4-9.
