Tim Duncan is still really good at basketball. He might never stop being good, either. At least that’s how it seems at this point. I mean, he’s playing better than he has in three years, and if he’s picking up steam in his age-36 season….will it ever end? It’s incredible, really.
As a Minnesota native, I will always engage anyone and everyone in a good ol’ fashioned Tim Duncan vs. Kevin Garnett debate. Who was better in their prime? Garnett had no supporting cast and had better all-around, across-the-board numbers. Duncan was more efficient, a better low-post player, and won playoff games and multiple titles. He also had a host of good-to-great players alongside him. But for how long did Duncan really play power forward as opposed to sliding over to center?
But that’s a debate for another day. Today, please take note of Duncan’s fantastic line: 34 points (12 of 19 shooting and 10 of 10 from the line), 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. And this against the Clippers’ young, athletic, bouncy frontline of Deandre Jordan and Blake Griffin.
