BASKETBALL: It's on! Playoff brackets announced : On Campus

Basketball pairings were announced Monday with all six community college teams earning berths into the Southern California regionals and the University of Redlands men’s team – fresh off a SCIAC championship – learning it will play in Washington for its NCAA Division III opener.


First up, the community college men. Mt. San Jacinto (19-10), which put together a late season charge just to reach the playoffs, will host Fullerton at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The winner will play at No. 2 Ventura.


Riverside City College, which finished second in the Orange Empire Conference, hosts San Bernardino Valley at 7 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers finished the regular season 19-8 and are seeded seventh in the Southern California bracket. The Wolverines finished 20-8 and tied for second in the Foothill Conference.


On the women’s side, MSJC was the highest seeded local team at No. 3 and hosts Cuesta at 7 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles (26-2) won the Foothill Conference title and are unbeaten at home.


RCC (16-12) is the third team out of the Orange Empire Conference and qualified as a the 16th seed. The Tigers host No. 17 LA Pierce at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The winner faces No. 1 Mt. San Antonio College.


San Bernardino Valley (24-5) is the second team out of the Foothill Conference and hosts Santa Barbara at 7 p.m. on Saturday.


Bulldogs headed to Spokane


The University of Redlands men’s basketball team heads to Spokane, WA, to take on eighth-ranked Whitworth University at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the opening round of the NCAA Championships.


It’s the second time in three seasons Redlands has won a SCIAC title and advanced to the Big Dance.


Redlands (22-5) is riding an 11-game winning streak and has won 15 of its past 16 games.
