Shalhevet (24-1), a modern Orthodox Jewish high school in Los Angeles, is playing in its first Southern Section 5A basketball championship game on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Anaheim Convention Center against Rolling Hills Prep.
Leading Shalhevet has been 5-foot-11 senior guard JoJo Fallas, who scored 34 points in an overtime victory over Valley Torah in the semifinals and is known for his three-point shooting. The team also has a 6-foot-9 senior center in Eitan Rothman.
The coach is Colin Jamerson, a former Woodland Hills Taft player who previously coached at Chatsworth Sierra Canyon.
Rolling Hills Prep (21-8) is led by 6-11 sophomore Jimbo Lull, who's averaging 19.2 points. Also on the team is senior guard Grant Kitani, the son of Fairfax Coach Harvey Kitani.
