The Coast has enjoyed its best prep basketball season in two decades. Seven teams earned berths in the State basketball Tournament: Pass Christian, Gulfport, Bay High, Harrison Central boys and girls, and Pascagoula boys and girls.
A combined 12 players were chosen for either the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Basketball games or the Mississippi All-Star game.
Hancock guard Conner Entriken, Harrison Central guard Jaylen Moore and Gulfport forward Eddie Lee are on the Mississippi roster for its showdown against Alabama on March 15 in Montgomery, Ala.
Bay High center Bretta Hart is on the Mississippi's girls roster.
You have to be a senior to play in the Mississippi-Alabama Game. Underclassmen play in the in-state all-star games.
The in-state game, which is played in the North-South format, takes place on July 12 at Mississippi College.
Moss Point coach Micoe Cotton will coach the South squad. Five Coast players lead the South: Moss Point guard Devin Booker, St. Martin guard Ed Simpson, Pascagoula LaDatren Deas, Pass Christian guard Dimitri Cook, and Gautier guard LaFayette Rutledge.
Three girls players are on the South roster: Bay High guard Christa Reed, Pearl River Central center Jessica Powers, and Gulfport forward Erica Newsome.
