TOTW | Oblate Basketball Club: girls and boys basketball in Dublin ...

It was a busy week of fixtures this week with no less than 18 games played. Well done to everyone one involved. It is very hard to do a report on all the games when there are so many but a big thank you to all who supported the games.

Special mention has to go to our brave U17 girls who were narrowly beaten in the cup semi final. The support for Terry and the girls was amazing, especially for an away game. Hard luck girls, your day will come.

But this weeks TOTW goes to our U12 Boys.

The boys had two games this weekend. First up was an away fixture to Dublin Lions. The return game had been a close one, so the boys were expecting another close contest. However the boys were focused and jumped out to a sizable lead. A loss of focus saw Lions mount a comeback and with 3 mins remaining , they got within 5 points. However Oblates switched back on and ran out winners by 10pts.

Second game of the weekend saw undefeated league leaders Liffey Celtic visit the Oblates on Sunday. The boys got off to a slow start conceding the 1st 8 points of the game without reply. There was a marked improvement in the 2nd quarter as the young Centurions got a foothold in the game. The game was basket for basket with Oblates mounting a strong comeback in the 4th quarter, however it wasn’t to be as Celtics triumphed with a 12 point victory.

The boys played well in both games and are improving everytime they play. Well done boys.

Special mention too to Mark and the incredible work he is doing with the boys. He has over 20 boys at every session, which is not easy. If anyone is available to help out we would really appreciate it. Well done Mark.
