Larry Larson: Women's basketball team takes on Michigan State ...

This frustrating season for the Ohio State women’s basketball team got even more frustrating in their last game when the Buckeyes (14-12, 4-9 Big Ten) lost at home on a last second, off-balance shot by Minnesota star, Rachel Banham, after OSU’s Raven Ferguson had hit two three-pointers to rally Ohio State into the lead.

Tonight, OSU faces Michigan State at home in the only meeting this year between the two teams.

Michigan State is a good team at 20-6 and are very good on defense where they lead the Big Ten, holding their opponents to 50.8 points per game.

Ohio State’s fine senior Tayler Hill has two home appearances left with tonight’s game and Sunday’s home finale against Michigan, and she is currently tied with Minnesota’s Rachel Banham for the scoring lead in the Big Ten, averaging 21.2 points a game.

It has been a tough season on Ohio State and tonight should be a competitive and close game and the Buckeyes desperately need a victory to pick up some momentum going to Illinois on Thursday, playing Michigan at home on Sunday and then heading for the Big Ten Tournament.
