Game one of the TNT TV doubleheader will be an Eastern Conference tilt as the Philadelphia 76ers will travel on the road to face the Chicago Bulls. The 76ers needs to regroup as the club hit the lowest point of their season after suffering a 98-84 home defeat to the Orlando Magic as a -8 ½ point favorite on Tuesday night. Heading into this game the Magic had dropped 17 of their previous 18 games. Philadelphia occupies the 10th seed in the Eastern conference and heading into Tuesday’s action the team was 4 ½ games behind the eighth seeded Milwaukee Bucks. As Chicago took the court on Tuesday night against Cleveland the Bulls were sitting in the six seed in the Eastern conference. Derrick Rose has been sidelined following his knee surgery from last year but has not listed a timetable for return. He is participating in practice and media reports are that Rose still doesn’t trust his recovery enough to fully exhort himself on the court yet. Rose is needed badly by the Bulls as the Chicago’s offense has struggled big time. They average just 92 points a game which is 28th and third worst in all of the NBA.
Game two of the doubleheader will feature Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers hosting the downtrodden Minnesota Timberwolves at 10:30PM Eastern Time. The Lakers are chasing the Houston Rockets for the eighth seed in the Western conference. LA trails Houston by three games for the final seed out west. The Lakers have won three of their past four games and will have two full days of rest for Minnesota. LA was exposed by Denver as the Nuggets outhustled the Lakers in their 119-108 win on Monday night. The Lakers don’t run the court very well and their age really shows when facing fast teams. Minnesota just can’t seem to get a break. Kevin Love has missed most of the season with a broken hand, Scorer Chase Budinger has been sidelined with a knee injury. The Timberwolves put up 95 points a game which is not good enough for a Western conference team.
